"Why Football Was Almost Lost"

The NFL was in crisis mode around 1982 and '83. Players went on strike, the birth of a new league the USFL and in fighting between the then Commissioner Pete Rozelle and Raiders owner Al Davis.

There were teams such as the Baltimore Colts moving to Indianapolis along with escalating salaries due to the USFL raiding their rival for players.
The No Fun League was struggling to stay relevant.
