Setting Goals And Micro-goals That Are Attainable

I'd like to talk a few minutes about goal setting. And I know you've probably seen quite a few folks saying you need to be setting your goals for next year to reach all new Heights to the sky that you're shooting for.

You know, next year is going to be a banner year. All these lofty goals and ambitions are fantastic. It's a great thing to have, but there are some things you need to think about along the way whereby setting long range goals are great, but they're not attainable right out of the gate.

So, one of the things that you need to be considering when you're doing goal setting is that the mind tends to focus on having completion and visualizing succeeding at the goals that you're going after. If your goal is not until mid year, next year or the end of the year, it's attainable, but there's no gratification.

There's no subconscious completion of these things along the way. So I use micro-goals as milestones along the way and what I do.

I make sure that I can reach the goals that I'm going after, but the measure of success along the way is setting those milestones for yourself.

Don't just set a goal and set the bar where you can't reach it.

I mean it...

I'm not saying you can't reach it, you can't reach it in any amount of time that, that your mind considers that as satisfactory.

Okay...so it's one of these long range plans. So you need to have long range goals and short range goals. But micro-goals are critical to making this whole process, this journey work to reach your goals.

So I have my own long range goals, but I also have some short term milestones too.

Like right now, I'm trying to completely redesign a sales funnel. It's a big daunting task.

It's no easy thing.

But along the way, I know there are certain milestones and measurements that I've got to get in order to make that happen.

As a result, I make sure that my goals are attainable, that I can reach what I want to reach and that I, I have a measure of success in the process. I can go back along the way and see that when I'm finished.

And I know that those little micro-goals that I set for myself helped me get to where I was trying to get to.

So my point being...don't set goals for yourself that are going to disappoint you because they take so long to reach. You want to leverage those micro-goals along the way. You to make those, the milestones to help you get there on your journey.

One of the things I'm going to be putting together is a very simple, one-page goal sheet for you. This be a little one pag'r of what your goals are, what your long range goals are and what your short range micro-goals are and what is a measure of success on each of those.

It'll just be a simple one page PDF printed out, fill it out and stick to it and, and you will find that that little measures of success takes you a lot further.

I'm sure you've made good goals for yourself this year. Next year when you make good goals and the next year you'll make good goals for yourself. How many of you are reaching those goals every year?

I'm sure some of you are, I'm sure there's frustrations along the way too.

I'm sure that as you go through that process, you feel like, "Oh my God, I'm never going to get there". "It's going to be so difficult to reach that peak, that plateau".

Well, don't do that to yourself.

I mean, that's just butchering it.

I'm serious about this...go ahead and come up with some things.

Let's talk about my sales funnel redesign process in the end. My long range goal for the sales funnel is to have it completely redesigned.

I have all my autoresponder sequences in place

I have all my sales pages done

All my segmentation

All the automation

All of those things are items I've got to complete in order for it to be FINISHED.

I've got to get all those things, all those phases done to make the end-goal of a a watertight sales funnel.

That's a revenue producing, automated machine to make that works for me when I'm done.

So, before I get there, I've got to do all these things. Today, one of the things I'm working on is the segmentation series of doing a quick survey to figure out what people are interested in and putting them in list segments so that I can sub-niche automatically what the area of interest that the subscriber said they wanted. Once I put them there, I can give them what they're interested in, not just some generic thing that I'm sending in an email.

That's a micro-goal for me. To finish out that whole segmentation series.

But, I should be done with that in a few days, so it's a goal that I can set by the end of this week.
