1984 Preseason Week 4 - Saturday, February 18, 1984
Attendance: NA
TV: KICU
An exhibition game between the Invaders and Panthers in Mesa, AZ a week before the 1984 season began.
KICU station did the broadcast which included interviews with players from both sidelines as well as guest commentary from other players such as Raymond Chester and Tim Spencer.
Both coaches John Ralston and Jim Stanley wanted to protect their main players so they implemented a rule that the quarterbacks for each team could not be physically tackled which meant the referees would have to blow the whistle in the event a sack was imminent thus rendering the play dead no matter what happened afterwards.
This was Bobby Hebert's first game back since winning the championship game from the year before. He was holding out for more money in a contract dispute and joined the team the same week the Invaders played the Panthers. His rusty play was evident as Michigan could barely move the ball with him under center. He only played the first half.
