Jim Lampley interviews the then University of Miami Hurricanes head coach Howard Schnellenberger who had accepted to be the new coach for the Washington Federals.
The Feds were going to be moved to Florida due to new ownership. No one knew for sure what the team name would be once the following season began.
Lampley and Schnellenberger discussed numerous topics such as why he was leaving the university after winning a championship, the rumor with his unhappiness concerning the under funding of the athletic department at Miami, making spring football successful in a new city, how different is he as a coach now as opposed to when he was in the pros.
All of this proved not to be for Schnellenberger as the USFL owners voted 12-2 to move the league to a fall schedule going head to head with the NFL. The Feds ended up in Orlando for the third and final season under a new name the "Renegades" along with a new head coach Lee Corso.
