Description

The Jacksonville Bulls lost their starting QB Brian Sipe to severe shoulder injury and he was out for the 1985 season. The Bulls backup Robbie Mafouz was sidelined with the flu, which left them with 3rd string Buck Belue to start against Memphis.

The Bulls not wanting to risk any more potential injuries to their QB's on the roster, decided to sign San Diego Chargers backup Ed Luther to a 4 year contract estimated at 2.7 million dollars.

Roger Twibell interviews Luther during halftime of the Showboats vs Bulls Monday night game. They discuss his reaction to his signing and fan support. How happy he was with the opportunity to start in the USFL after being a backup with San Diego.

Roger also asks how long will it be until he's ready to start as well as his relationship with Brian Sipe who still wanted to play. Luther mentions that the Memphis vs Jacksonville game is the first USFL contest he has ever attended.

Short interview but a good one.
